In an era of generative AI, declining enrollments, and budget challenges, many institutions are rethinking their approach to STEM curriculum. This session brings together seasoned R1 educators to share their experiences redesigning mathematics courses, focusing on student success, pedagogical innovation, and the strategic use of Gradescope.

Through a mix of presentation and panel discussion, we will explore key aspects of curriculum redesign (which are applicable to all disciplines), including:

Developing a structured roadmap using backward design principles
Engaging faculty through retreats and collaborative course development
Implementing adaptive courseware and active learning strategies
Ensuring transparency, accountability, and ongoing instructor support
Leveraging Gradescope for efficient grading, data-driven insights, and enhanced formative assessment
Examples of assessments and rubrics, as well as the successful end results which could be duplicated in non-STEM disciplines as well.

Ample time will be reserved for audience questions and discussion. Whether you’re just starting a redesign project or looking to refine your approach, this session will provide practical takeaways to support both faculty and students.
